So this week, I made a special purchase at Wal-Mart.
Little boy underwear.
The Kiddo has been showing signs of being close to potty-training ready, so I decided it was time to give it a shot. He was thrilled to death to have Mater from Cars on his butt, and wanted to wear the underwear right away. I explained the rules of going potty on his potty chair and asked him every 15 minutes if he needed to go.
I went in to make dinner, and heard him behind me. "Oh no!" he cried. "Water!"
Well. At least he peed on the kitchen floor.
The thing is, he didn't get that HE had been the one who made the "water" on the floor, so he's not quite as ready as I thought. We're still sitting on the potty chair a few times a day, but the underwear has been put away for a bit longer.
What the heck does this have to do with anything?
Sometimes, plans change. You start doing things one way, but life comes along and you have to make some changes. So as of next week, it's time for some blog changes.
At least until the end of the year, I'll be blogging twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'll still be posting the same types of posts-- writing helps, Teen Tales, etc--just twice a week instead of three times. I'm also changing how I respond to comments. I love replying personally to your comments, but I also love going to your blogs, and it's hard to find time for both right now. So while I'll still respond by email to questions or comments that specifically need response, I'll mostly be responding to you by visiting your own blogs. I'll still be reading comments, of course, and I still love to get them.
So, my friends, I have some questions for you now. Anything you'd like to see more or less of on here (Teen Tales, writing helps, personal stuff, writing progress)? Any writing questions I can address in a future post? Would you prefer an email response to your comments, or a visit to your blog?

I think it's easy to miss replies in the comments, but it's always a treat to have someone post on your blog, so I think you're spot-on. And good luck with the little one!
I love your posts. No worries about all that. Though I'm always in the mood for book suggestions.
Potty training is SO much fun. LOL. He will get it.
I love all your topics. So whatever comes into your head.
I think visiting someone else's blog, instead of responding to comments will keep that relationship going.
Life is a world in. I'm flexable, do you is best for your schedule. Don't stress it. Oh, and I've been there with the potty training, best of luck. It's the night time that's got me in a pickle.
To be honest, I've always thought responding to every comment by email was a little above and beyond the call of duty. :) Fun to receive, but it sounds exhausting to pull off. If I'd tried that, I'd have given up blogging years ago.
But I always love seeing you at my blog, just as I enjoy visiting yours!
I love your writing tips :) Sometimes you just have to cut back. Good luck with the potty training--I'd rather do rewrites!
Your tips is what motivated me to do my own little advisory kick. I'd love to see more on that.
Once your boy figures it out, life will be wonderful. Trust me. That's experience talking. :)
LOL--I just bought my toddler pixar undies, too--which she has mostly managed to keep dry. :) But there's nothing like being in the middle of a great brainstorming session and hearing your child call, "Mama, pee! NOW!" ;) Good luck, with potty training and writing and blog changes, too.
It is so hard to find time for everything. I feel the same way often. Still glad to be hearing from you twice a week though and I love everything you post, so no changes necessary for me in that department. :) Unless you want to share more tips from your character building worksheets. I love that stuff :)
Just blog visits/comments are cool. As for posts I want more how not to suck so bad at writing in general!
We have been teetering on the potty training venue, too. *sigh* Not fun.
As for comments/blog visits, whatever works for you is good. We all have life to get through. And little kids don't stay that way for long.
:) I really admire how much work you put into your blog and blog posts -- because I imagine blogging 3 times a week can be a lot of work. I'm hoping blogging on Tuesday and Thursday will work out better for you.
Regarding comments -- I'm still teasing out the best way for me. Personally, I prefer a visit to my own blog, and strive to do that with my own commenters, although I do reply to comments if I have time/if it's a question.
I completely understand.
He he he, I wasn't expecting, BOY UNDERWARE, as your special purchase. Hooray for potty training.
I like to read about lots of things. I love to hear about upcoming books. I love to hear about why you write, about your writing experience. I love to learn about things that you've learned about writing. Stuff like that, and more. Suprise me!
It's good that you aren't walking away from blogging, and that's the important bit.
Do what you feel is right. :o)
It's good to be flexible. I have to say that I am absolutely thrilled to be done with potty-training. Forever. I really, truly hate it. Personally, I think it's best to wait a while. I didn't start my kids until 3 1/2!
